I feel like I'm preaching to the choir here, but I want to share anyway in case anyone still needs to hear it.

The other day I met up with a friend from high school and her sister. My friend's sister is trans and the only name I knew them by was their dead name.

Obviously, I know better than to say that, so instead I just offered my hand and said, "I don't think we knew each other in high school. I'm Tracy. Pleasure to meet you."

[and that wasn't a lie, they are a few years older and likely were not hanging around underclassmen] (*edit: underclasspeople?)

They responded with their name and that was it. No fuss. It's just that damn easy to be respectful to a trans person.

@InfoSecSherpa love it!
Thank you
