The paradigm shift of Mastodon from other social networks that use an algorithm to push content it thinks I want to see, is that accessing the feed at any given time is like jumping into an active river of posts and conversations. I may miss posts and conversations that happened while I was away but that’s OK, and if they’re interesting enough, they’ll likely be boosted and seen in my feed. And for the posts from people I never want to miss, I can opt-in to get notified. This is a good paradigm.
