"All that you touch
You Change.

All that you Change
Changes you.

The only lasting truth
Is Change.

God
Is Change."

Octavia Butler – The Marginalian

The Marginalian
@mariapopova An amazing literary duology that was brutally honest in its revelation of humanity. Her work was a powerful gut punch and exquisitely written.
@mariapopova To this day, Octavia Butler’s ‘Lovechild’ is what I consider the best short story ever written.
@mariapopova
Just don't quote Jefferson Airplane’s lines:
"Life is change
how it differs from the rocks"
to a geologist!

Except frying pans. Don't touch hot frying pans. Have grease handy.

@mariapopova Butler’s “religion for grownups” sans supernatural mythos, yet rife with irrational meaning and emotional power, really spoke to me. The only aspect of Earthseed that keeps it from becoming viable as a real world movement might be the name “Earthseed” and the objective of interplanetary colonization. We can find other sacred purposes in the care and fascination and love of our living world, and devotion to refining scientific understanding and facing truth in the ways that matter.
