Sometimes it can all get a bit much.
This is what I do when things get funky.

How to stop wasting time when you're in a funk - ankteckningar

Last year I set a lot of different systems and dreams in motion. I had a period of intense focus and productivity. I was driven by passion. But passion is never enough. Passion is what you feel when the dopamine hits keep coming. “When it comes to creating work you love, following your passion is […]

@ankteckningar I didn't know about Canvas and just looked into it. That is a great tool and I like how you use it to evaluate that "knotted yarn." I haven't been feeling a funk, but it would be great to put all the puzzle pieces of my initial plans for the year and the actual doings of my day on a Canvas (with thoughts about these things and even the bits of pdfs or web links and so on that pertain) on a Canvas. Sort of take a look at the reality. Thanks!
@ajlewis2 it's a great feature with so many uses. I'm planning on using it for timelines for future projects and so on.

@ankteckningar @ajlewis2 I like Canvas and I know it’s going to keep getting better and better, but it still hasn’t replaced #Scapple for me as a quick, down-and-dirty thinking tool. I just find it faster and less fussy to use, and so far I’m finding I can keep more text visible on the screen at once.

I expect I’ll be using Canvas for more formal, structured uses where I want to be able to link to stuff in my vault.

Great post, BTW!

@EpiphanicSynchronicity I've never heard of Scappel! I saw it's the same company that does scrivener though. Is it the same idea as Canvas or does it have more features?
@ankteckningar It’s very simple. It defaults to just showing your words with the frames hidden, so it feels like throwing pure ideas onto the board and playing with them. Instead of finding a little dot on the frame to make connections, you just drag one node onto another. It’s not designed to produce beautiful, symmetrical mind maps. It’s for playing with ideas and concepts outside of any neat grid. It lets me start with things wild and messy when I don’t yet know where I’m going.
@EpiphanicSynchronicity sounds like enhanced IRL mindmaps. Cool!
