Is it really common that kids in the US get a car on their 18th birthday? (or 16th or 14th i dunno anymore)

Or is it something that TV likes to make us believe?

I mean, kids here should be happy if they get 1 lesson for their licence on the birthday instead of a whole car

@stux I live in Canada, but not anyone I know. Lessons and put on the insurance, is what you get on your 16 birthday, if you want to drive. In the city many don’t even get that. My son has ‘borrowed’ our second car, but he is 21, and with both working from home now we only need one.
