Just watched the first episode of #ShenmueTheAnimation and I quite like it so far. Some things were a bit silly, but overall it was pretty decent, imho, the aninmation itself, too. And they also brought back Masaya Matsukaze as Ryo's voice actor, so that was a nice surprise and is definitely gonna make this more enjoyable for me in general! :D And I can't wait to see Gui Zhang!

... and now I also want to play the games again (and I still haven't even played Shenmue 3 ...) 'XD

@doorfighter Would you say this is OK to watch for a Shenmue newbie or should I give the games a go first? I'm curious about this franchise but can't dedicate a lot of time to videogames at the moment.

@spillingdown Sorry I can't be of more help at the moment. Maybe when I see the next few episodes, I can give you a better-informed answer (though I don't know when that'll be).

@doorfighter don't worry your answer is informative enough! It sounds like peeps reacted positively then. I don't mind the game feeling slower, I tend to take a loooong time doing stuff that isn't the main story in these types of games anyway lol

I've been in an anime mood lately, so I might watch this soon. Thanks for the reply :3

@spillingdown Hey, sorry for the late reply. Have you taken a peek at the anime yet? I've just watched episode 2-3 and liked them a lot. The anime also includes some (relevant) minor characters which I found very nice and which you might recognize if you ever play the game(s) after all :) And yeah, while you can't do THAT much 'side/idle stuff' in Shenmue (the game), it's still nice to roam around town and there are some special scenes if you're in the right place at the right time :)

@doorfighter Haven't yet checked it out but I thank you for this update! I might just give the first episode a go this week, I watch far too many things in a group, would be good to have something I can enjoy by myself :3
