Since the Musk takeover, I have signed up to Mastodon, Post and Spoutible.
At present, I can only see me staying with Mastodon. 🖖

@SpockResists There was apparently some controversy with Spoutible recently? I saw a post floating around claiming the CEO was anti-LGBT, but I don't remember details.

@ArchyD @SpockResists I'm on Post and Spoutible as well. I don't really care for Post, but apparently there's no option to delete your account, yet?

The "issue" on Spoutible is that the TOS clearly states no pornography or sexual content. Some people complained that sex workers are being discriminated against and lumped LGBTQ in with them. Not true. Seems like a coordinated attack.

@Burnt_Veggies
@SpockResists

Depends on how you define Porn. Where is that boundary?

Are 2 men kissing porn? Is a trans person posting transition related pics porn? How much nuance will they use in applying their rules? If a trans man posts a topless pic but still has some fem looks, is that porn?

What I remember was the CEO having a harsh and unsympathetic reaction. Someone got banned for trying to figure out/understand where the limits lay. Which is a very important thing to know.

@ArchyD @SpockResists
It seems pretty clear to me.

@Burnt_Veggies @SpockResists So, answer my questions.

Do these terms explicitly permit and ensure an account is safe for posting transition-related content, a trans-masc is safe to post a topless image, and whether a same-sex kiss is sexual in nature?

Because the thing is, these terms don't guarantee it. "sexually explicit" isn't defined. If you ask my conservative grandma whether two men kissing is sexually explicit, the answer is yes.

Further, transitional images are considered against the-

@Burnt_Veggies @SpockResists TOS, but rely upon an *exception* being granted. There are no terms defining how an exception should be determined. It is up in the air.

There are no bounds established on Artistic Content either, which is an area rife for misuse. If Spoutible declares a naked image is not artistic, and they don't define artistic, you're just stuck on that judgement call.

The default of these rules is to flat ban things and leave users hoping for an exception.

@Burnt_Veggies @SpockResists Unless you're going to tell me people haven't banned LGBT+ content with the claim it's "sexual" for the past few decades. And of course you wouldn't tell me to trust a company's judgement in applying a ToS where everything hinges on the mood of the moderator with an "exception may be made."

Spoutible could have defined specific parameters, put in examples of what is and is not covered. They have opted not to do so and instead present ambiguity.

@ArchyD @SpockResists you're barking up the wrong tree. I don't own, work for, or have any professional association with Spoutible. I answered your questions. Christopher Bouzy answered your questions with more specific information that he put out on Spoutible and Twitter. He even had a spontaneous online conference with Spaces on Twitter to discuss. If you don't trust him, that's your hang up not mine.
@Burnt_Veggies @SpockResists You posted an image and it stopped there. You replied to me at the start to defend Spoutible with the claim that "Some people complained that sex workers are being discriminated against and lumped LGBTQ in with them. Not true." You've not really disproven the anti-LGBT+ nature of the place and.. I think it's time to get you out of my notifications.
