I finally decided to get rid of my extra #cassette #multitracker (a #Tascam414) a few months ago but not only have I not sold it I just bought this #Yamaha #MT100 off Craigslist. It was *incredibly* dusty and I couldn't get it to do more than turn on when I was buying it, but it turns out the buttons just require a firm touch. Seems like it's fully functional.

It was $20.

Took me about 30 minutes of gentle scrubbing, a few blasts of canned air and a some picking of weird dust clots out of tiny crevices with a needle to get it cleaned up but everything I tried works great. Pots/sliders don't even seem scratchy, but I only did minor testing.

Hell it even came with a #tape, with a pretty decent guitar-and-voice #demo with a Neil #Sedaka cover and what I think are some originals (or cover songs I simply failed to identify).

It was one of three things I got for $20 from the same guy (I'll probably post sent those too LMAO). I also got a few other cool things (I've mentioned them here and there) in the past few days for very good deals, including another $20 find worth maybe 5 times that...

Guess one of my #spells went off.

@etherdiver yep, soooooo much good old tech gets thrown away.
@etherdiver I still have my Korg D16. Bought it in 2002 or so. Still works fine and I sometimes use it to record live gigs on its 800MB hard drive. I have an even older Roland 4 track that takes zip discs that I haven’t attempted to get working recently. #packrat mode.
