What if my little post apocalyptic art project turned into a video game?
what if i did something really stupid

What if the whole game was just Environmental Storytelling™

What if it was a giant open world with no hostile people, just the occasional dangerous animal like a mountain lion or a bear

What if one of your big goals was to use surveying tools to build a map of the region, and you get to name all the mountains and landmarks and lakes and stuff

What if you're there to connect a small settlement to a power grid by laying cables

What if I made a game using PS2 spec models, textures, etc. but it was all in Unreal 5 and it had things like fields of individual waving blades of grass and global illumination
I am a danger to myself and others

Goddamn, I'd almost forgotten how fun pure low poly modeling is, especially when you have absolutely no intent of baking normal maps or anything else for it. Fuck yeah.

This is just over 6k tris, and this is probably as high as I'm going with characters on this. Ideally, I'd like to keep anything human-sized at or below 5k.

Man, I've missed doing hand painted texturing

Going to see if I can get this looking like something from MGS2/3

Mmmm, already looking nice and crunchy
Still a lot of fiddly detail work to do, but I'm really happy with how this is coming along.
There is zero chance I would ever in a million years be able to make money off this little project, and that's absolutely delightful
ohhhh this is not good for my health

@xavierck

I didn't see the UI or the grid in the thumbnail at first glance, I thought you had built a life size costume version of the model and taken it to like Burning Man or something!
