I'm starting to experiment with super-sheer (like completely see-through and therefore completely breathe-through) fabrics in front of the filter of my #breathe2 #elastomeric to allow for some more colourful filter decoration than the filter paintings I've got. This one is a black filter with a light blue fabric (turning the light blue into a darker blue) with shiny silver snowflakes and a shiny silver band to match. It suits the cold and somewhat snowy snap we've been having!

By the way: if any other #elastomeric-wearing locals would like to experiment with this, I've got plenty of fabric samples either here or coming, all of which are bigger than I really need. I'd be happy to share the bits I don't need (no cost). I think this technique would work with either the Prescientx #breathe2 or the #breathe1, but also the #FloMask (the fabric really is very very thin and is nicely held in place by the mask itself).
@IPEdmonton I have a fabric bin in my basement and I'd be happy to share with you. I have a black shear fabric in a butterfly print that immediately comes to mind.
@Kellyshenanigans Oh, very cool! I have one butterfly print coming but I'm not 100% sure it will be sheer enough for this purpose (and either way the colours will probably be different which I appreciate). We should have a fabric swap sometime.
@IPEdmonton I also have a serger for finishing edges to prevent freying.
@IPEdmonton Looks fantastic!
@krytes42 Thank you! I've been posting my different "looks" to the #MaskArt hashtag if you're interested in my other attempts, past and future (or contributing your own--I'd love to see what other people are doing along these lines!).
@IPEdmonton I went the easy route with a Mask Squad sticker for my Flo Mask. My son's is considerably more colourful!
@krytes42 Oh, that looks super cool! I love yours. I also have a Flo Mask and bought some decals for it, but I haven't tried them yet.
@IPEdmonton how thin does the fabric have to be? Do you think I could put in a thin crocheted lace?
@Kellyshenanigans You can use any fabric you want (the makers themselves sometimes use regular non-sheer fabric as a decorative cover over their NanoMasks, which use the same filtration technique as the breathe2). But anything that blocks the air at all is going to impede the breathability of the mask and make it feel more like breathing through a cloth mask (just with the protection and filtration ability of the breathe filter underneath).

@IPEdmonton

Nicely done! I haven't done anything so fancy, just slipcovers from knit t-shirt material or polyester fleece.

… And this is less than for fashion purposes than to prevent me from having some sort of anaphylactic reaction to the atrociously bright magenta-colour of P100 filters. I am strongly allergic to this colour. 😛

Though I did end up choosing some polyester fleece that matches my coat, so I suppose I did achieve a fashion moment after all, lol! 😂
