@wayemason Just saw the proposal re: charging for on-street parking downtown on evenings and weekends.

As someone who lives downtown, this would suck. My friends would now have to pay anytime they came to my place instead of me going to theirs. My family wants to come here for dinner on Sunday? Yep mom, that’s gonna cost ya!

Perhaps just having evening enforcement ticketing illegally parked vehicles after 6pm is a good start? I could make a few hundred a night while I’m out walking the dogs.

@tmyrden The thinking was, and the reason other cities (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton) do this is that a lot of the parking that restaurants and other destinations are counting on is full of bar employees and full-time residents who start parking at 5pm.

That said, I am okay with pulling this off the table for this year until we get a deeper dive into parking utilization data and impacts other cities saw, or did not see, when they rolled this out.
