The idea that Everything Happens For A Reason has never sat right with me.

It's not just that it clashes with my scientific understanding of how the universe works; it seems, to me, a deeply disempowering message.

So this fell out of my head, after someone posted elsewhere about how it didn't this sit right with them either...

A is a bit shitty and B is sort of OK.

I often take comfort in that.

But I don't feel the need for gratitude for five extinction events and a history of patriarchal genocides to enjoy a quiet moment.
