I love when some random commenter tells an artist to "stick to music" when they put out a political song or statement

Like, maybe you should stick to assistant regional managing, Tomβ€”did you think of that?

@ryancordell @stefan i went to see roger waters and people were SO OFFENDED by his politics and i was like DID YOU KNOW YOU BOUGHT TICKETS TO A ROGER WATERS CONCERT

@selfagency @ryancordell Yeah, I never understood right-wingers who somehow get into bands like RATM, and then complain about them being political. https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/rage-against-the-machine-has-always-been-political

I guess they really just live in their own world.

What the Hell Did Right Wingers Think Rage Against the Machine Was Singing About?

After the band made a statement against forced birth at a recent show, conservatives shrieked that the band should stay out of politics. But bro, have you ever heard a RATM song?

MEL Magazine
@ryancordell or when the people they don't like protest their hate rallies: "they must not have jobs." Uh, didn't *you* take off from work to attend the fascist pep rally?

@kimlockhartga @ryancordell From the few counter protests I've been to where I managed to *talk* to a few, they don't have jobs anymore - they got let go because they were hateful fascists. Therefore, they have a lot of time to protest.

To protest the things they blame (incorrectly) for the consequences of being hateful fascists.

@ryancordell Haven't artists - like since the beginning of *art* - been political? Musical artists made their entire career on social and political commentary.

Could you imagine telling Buffalo Springfield that they should stick to music after listening to For What It's Worth?

*That Bob Dylan man... he's too political for my taste. *
