Seeing Jimmy Carter's decline only underlines the enshittification of US politics since Reagan. With notable exceptions, of course. But the massive transfer of wealth upwards, the abandonment of any pretense of a social safety net, the pettiness and insanity of current Republicans, the stifling materialism.... yeah, that started with Reagan, and, unfortunately, we're soaking in it.
