darren is Not Going BackStaying the obvious here, but it is pretty messed up that there’s no sidewalk on the Somerville side for a big stretch of the Alewife Brook Parkway. Cross safely, kids!!
If you’re coming down the north side sidewalk of the minor street, you don’t even get an accessible crossing, or even an accessible crossing to get to the accessible crossing. Messed up.
Sure enough, here’s someone voting with their feet for a sidewalk on the Somerville side of the Alewife Brook Parkway. Quite a failure that there isn’t one.
To be clear, installing a sidewalk here would be millions of dollars in regrading and building a massive retaining wall. Many old-growth trees lost.
I think of that as the opportunity cost of not doing what I think we should do: Reduce Alewife Brook Parkway to three lanes here.
