Let's say it while he is still with us. #JimmyCarter was a FAR better #president than his times could admit, and the best ex-president we have ever had.

That's the highest you can attain in that job.

And for everyone still talking shit about him, I am damn lucky he was the one in office when this happened and you are too.

False Warnings of Soviet Missile Attacks Put U.S. Forces on Alert in 1979-1980 | National Security Archive

Washington D.C., March 16, 2020 - During the Cold War, false alarms of missile attacks were closely held matters although news of them inevitably leaked. Today the National Security Archive revisits the false alerts of the Jimmy Carter administration when on four occasions warning screens showed hundreds and hundreds of Soviet ballistic missiles heading toward North America.

@YusufToropov TRUE! AND a far better human than many Presidents!

@YusufToropov

I can't help feeling he's my favourite. Some good other ones, but he was special.

@linuxgal @YusufToropov We did not deserve him. We still don't. He is too good.

Replace his solar panels on the White House
@YusufToropov YES. When people fail to grasp this it says so much about them.
@YusufToropov When Reagan won I remember feeling lost, like I had no place in this country. I got over the initial feeling but then felt sad every time a law was passed that was unjust in some way.
@YusufToropov John Quincy Adams was a damn good ex-president, and did stuff people should hear about—especially today. It doesn’t lessen #jimmycarter but rather elevates a lot of important things to say that he was a model ex-president, like JQA. And the model ex-president, I’m starting to believe, elevates important things beyond themself, even after death. Like JQA did. And, no doubt, Carter will. They lead us all after leaving office, and also beyond their lives.
@YusufToropov Something about someone truly dedicating themselves to the common good is so rare and wonderful - we all could be better for the "common good" and he *lives*/*lived* it.. we can all do more, and better.
