I dreamed last night I'd been elected to the Minnesota House and had just realized that obviously I had a House e-mail address but I had no idea how to get into it.

Also, Erin Murphy told me that she was going to have me join some committees she didn't like so she could bail from them. (Erin is in the Senate, but apparently both bodies had these committees and she thought our part of St. Paul only need rep in the House.) One of them was an oversight committee for the State Fair.

I do not think this committee exists, but if it did, I bet Erin would WANT to be on it.

Also at some point near the end of the dream it occurred to me that legislators are supposed to have assistants and my assistant should have helped me figure out how to read my e-mail and also, I had no idea who my assistant was.
I'm pretty sure that there are actual training sessions for new electeds that cover things like "setting up your e-mail" and "checking your voicemail" and "this is Sara, your legislative assistant; you'll be sharing her with 3 other people, do not waste her time" but apparently I just blew those off. I feel sorry for my constituents, clearly I SUCKED at this.
@naomikritzer Funny way to announce your candidacy.

@naomikritzer

Your dreams are much more grounded than mine.

@jgordon Not most of the time, I'm pretty sure. This was an unusually coherent dream.
@naomikritzer I liked the comment that it’s time for you to run :-).
@jgordon I don't see that one, but I am never, ever, ever going to run for office, lol. I hate going to meetings. You know what politicians do all day? THEY GO TO MEETINGS.
@naomikritzer As an elected official, you would be surprised. Very often there is a trade association that provides all that and hopefully they have a conference close to when you get elected.
