Installing this on a new machine today: a rare #audio tool I can recommend without hesitation. I first came across Randy Jones’ Madrona Labs via a NIME paper about a novel controller. Back then (2010), ML’s Aalto caught my eye for its Buchla-inspired synthesis and lovely patchable GUI; both rare in an plugin at the time. It’s continued to be updated (incl. native M1/2 support) and remains much used. Great customer support too. https://madronalabs.com/products/aalto #Synthesis #Synthesizers #Aalto #MadronaLabs

Madrona Labs - hardware and software for electronic music

@drd Wholeheartedly agree. A fantastic synth. One of the few software synths that I would just play with, with no idea in mind, just for the sake of noise making. Before I'd gotten into modular or even experimented with VCV, this was my first introduction to modular-like patching.

The manual is also outstanding. It serves as a great introduction to synthesis in general, and the tone it strikes is really charming and inviting. It was so well done I felt like recommending it—the manual—to people.
