Switched over to my new ISP today (Oxio.ca). Old independent ISP I was with is no longer independent (Telus quietly bought them last month).

The setup experience with Oxio has been great and I'm getting a faster connection for $15 less a month + improved latency. Win/win so far!

As long as they don’t jack up the rates or force me to use some shite equipment, I’m not going to fight about it. I’m really disappointed with Oxio though.

@cautionwip Right? I mean at least it's Cogeco and not one of the Big Three. But at the same time, 5 days ago Oxio was posting on Instagram about how independent ISPs are so important... I guess their marketing dept didn't speak with their business people.

I'm sticking with them as well, but I did send them an email to let them know that I wasn't happy about being blindsided.
