-Cut thousands of employees despite the safety risks of understaffing

Atrocious corporate greed.

In the first place, the priority of capitalism is profit above all other considerations; in the second, American corporations have legal personhood. The toxic combination of these two factors creates an extremely wealthy, powerful and psychopathic entity whose prime impulse is to increase profits.
