Mastodon.world admins

A brief statement following the shutdowns of #mastodonlol and #mastodonau

Mastodon.world  will not be shut down. We have 3 admins with access to the server. No single point of admin.

Might we ever get enough of running this instance, we'll hand it over to other admins who think the same about our rules. Continuity is important.

@mwadmin Appreciate you releasing this statement, but kind of sad it needs to be made at all honestly. If a system like mastodon is meant to be the future of social media, then we need to be certain we’re not just going to be constantly bounced around from instance to instance. Especially seeing as posts can’t be archived yet. Keep up the good work.

@mwadmin Having instances overseen by just one person is possibly not a good idea as it tends to instability, should a licence model be employed where there is a requirement for two or more people? 🤷‍♀️

Notwithstanding, Twtr is run by one person today and look where it is.

@mwadmin good to see, thank you. And I assume that having more than one admin and a strong moderation team makes it easier for you as well, and you're less likely to get overwhelmed and burn out.

@rosamundi Well.. it's actually still stressful. I'm not doing the moderation but still get called out on decisions that are (or are not) made. I'm thinking about writing a blog post about it.
