Key points for safely interacting with the police:
No Comment - you do not have to answer police questions, whether in an "informal chat" or interviewed when arrested. If arrested, you are within your rights to give a prepared statement and then answer "no comment" to everything else.

No Personal Details - if stopped and searched, you don't have to give police personal details, do don't. If arrested, you don't have to give personal details. Mass arrests and stop and searches are a means for police to do intelligence gathering. Don't make it easy for them.

Under What Power? - whenever police are doing anything, ask this question. Note down their answers. And this isn't a conversation. Once they've answered you, the conversation is over.

No Caution - if you're arrested, police will often offer you a caution, which basically means you admit guilt without them having to actually do anything. Unless advised by a (good) solicitor, do not do this.

And finally, this is very important. If you're going to the vigil, don't post about it on social media. DEFINITELY DO NOT POST PHOTOS. As far as your digital footprint should look, you were not there. This keeps you safe, as well as others.

A little personal tip: schedule some posts about drinking a cup of tea at home for the time of the vigil.
