KuJoe 💞@adhdeanasl "following back" is actually really bad for your Mastodon experience because unlike other platforms where your feed is curated by an algorithm, on here your feed is curated by you so "following back" fills your Home feed with stuff you probably don't want to see, and thus giving you an awful experience.
Mastodon is not designed for "farming" follows. In most cases it would probably be a better experience to be able to hide your follow/follower count.

@GayDeceiver @70sgayspaceangel If you take some time to check out that person’s timeline, you will see they are not a native English user. Their interactions with other accounts lead me to believe that they’re trying to manipulate and control people into follows. I dealt with hundreds of them over the years on twitter, and now they’ve moved here because Mastodon is growing.

GayDeceiver@adhdeanasl @miarosa758 @70sgayspaceangel Dean is right. Out of curiosity, I checked his TL. Sparse on content, but "follow me back" seems to be prevalent. He seems to be a younger African male (lots of Swahili content). IMHO, he only wants to grow by getting follow backs, not by creating engaging content. Just my opinion.
