Conceptually, I don't understand how my parents think technology works. My mom could not log into an account on a computer. In trying to get access to the account, she thought that she should turn off her new phone.

I don't know why she thinks the power status of her phone affects her ability to access a remote service.

@ThinkingSapien My favorite is the bit where they're afraid they are going to break something if they click the wrong radio button. Like "Oh no I just took down the power grid on the entire Eastern Seaboard!" kind of broken. SMDH.

Another interaction:

Dad gets a prompt "Are you sure you want to delete that file: YES NO"

Calls me. Tells me the situation.

Me: "Well dad, are you sure you want to erase that file"

Dad: "Yeah, I'm sure."

Me: "Which button do you think will do that"

Dad: "The yes button"

Me: "Then click on that button."
