I spent part of the afternoon here crying and talking to my bestie as news hit about the bullying murdered trans girl Brianna Ghey had been subjected to.
I left school 30 years ago. I've been in therapy, and I still fall apart when I hear a story of long-term bullying similar to mine where cops & school were absolutely useless and probably made the situation much worse by their inaction. Abusers become more smug when they sense they have impunity.
Thankful that the violence I incurred from my attackers didn't kill my "sissy, fag, poof, girl" body, but I sure have plenty of scars in my mind, and damn it still triggers me to fall apart and regress back to that scared child and teen.
