Air space above Lake Michigan briefly closed for military activity.
Update: Rep. Bergman of #Michigan says the US military decommissioned" an object over Lake Huron this afternoon.
The object over Lake Huron was "swiftly, safely and securely taken down,” according to #Michigan Gov. Whitmer. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2023/02/12/object-decommissioned-over-lake-huron-michigan-airspace-closure/69897024007/
Everything we know about the unidentified object shot down over Lake Huron

An F-16 fighter jet has shot down an object Sunday over Lake Huron waters on the U.S. side of the international border with Canada.

The Detroit News
An F-16 fighter jet fired a Sidewinder air-to-air missile at the object over Lake Huron to shoot it down, according to US officials.

@w7voa Yeah, I'm sure.

I think we need better drug testing for the air force.

@w7voa Gotta be an economic aspect to this at some point.
“Based on its flight path and data we can reasonably connect this object to the radar signal picked up over Montana, which flew in proximity to sensitive DOD sites,” says Pentagon in statement on the object shot down over Lake Huron.
Object shot down over Lake Huron likely fell into waters in #Canada, according to the US Department of Defense.
US officials say it hasn't been determined how the latest objects shot down stayed aloft and that's why they're not being referred to as balloons.
"It could be a gaseous type of balloon inside a structure or it could be some type of a propulsion system," Air Force General Glen VanHerck, head of NORAD and Northern Command tells reporters.
Asked if he has ruled out aliens, Gen. VanHerck says he hasn't ruled out anything.
@w7voa “Are the aliens coming to Earth to kill us all and steal our wifi?”
@w7voa If these advanced beings can cure Covid, will Republicans instantly vilify them? (Asking for the sane contingent of humans.) P.S. Should we be shooting down everything we can’t identify? *See The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951 movie about humans being rejected by aliens because of how violent we are).
@w7voa Doesn't seem to be trying at all!
@w7voa where the hell isn't there a "sensitive DoD site"? They're pretty much in every congressional district after all.
@w7voa 20,000 is low for a balloon, what the heck are these things? Long range Drones?

@w7voa All of these objects popping up now.
@kf4yfa @w7voa these were always common. Public opinion and scaremongering media driving it has made them a new political priority, an unnecessary distraction. None of these present any danger nor any increased threat of surveillance that didn’t already exist from spy satellites.

@w7voa

Did someone lose a birthday balloon?

@w7voa sigh. Do you think the fact they opened the filters for tracking stuff, and everyone is paying attention is escalating this, or is it really just happening all the time?
@BduzBoop
It happens all the time. I feel like this one's probably a training exercise, like normal, but there's no telling, so I'm nervous every time I see an army plane. Especially a heavy-duty one like that Osprey I saw one time and when they're in groups.
@w7voa
@blake @w7voa I used to live by an army air field, so military planes are normal. The Ospreys are something!
@BduzBoop Widening filters means more objects to analyze and now scrambling aircraft for every such “UFO.”
@w7voa thanks, our house is kinda thinking that the filters being changed and govt doesn’t want to appear to be hiding or ignoring things, so we are hearing about it more. We are not freaking out.

@w7voa

To all of the pilots chasing the UFOs while the amateur sleuths watch on plane spotting apps…

Draw a sky dong and become a legend!

@w7voa Another UFOs? PRC already claimed that they shot another "UFO" also.

🎶 Neun und neunzig spyballons.
