A problem I've been having a lot the last couple years (I talked about this before on bird site) is that I think it would be good to listen to Fiona Apple's "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" but then when I start I just get really distracted by how much I want to listen to "On the Bound" instead
OMG I didn't realize until this moment that like half the tracks on "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" including the title track Fiona Apple is playing the drums herself. Able to play piano AND drums, living the dream! Her drumming has this deliciously messy feeling to it
Every Fiona Apple album has this really good emphasis on like, the sounds of instruments. Like capturing the bits of incidental noise a drumkit makes or the sounds of fingers moving on strings or the little wavers of voice that a lot of production styles would do a second take to erase, her recordings always linger on that
@mcc that style of recording always leaves me with the ineffable sense of being present in a room where music is happening
@mcc Same here. And then as long as Iโ€™m listening to On the Bound, I may as well play the rest of that (perfect) album, right?
@dankleinman Right. Right, exactly
