Mettingen, Germany … dayum.

“An 88-year-old man died in Germany recently. He had a private library that no one knew about and he built all the furniture for the books himself.” - from the FB page BRICO ET DECO’

@BrianJopek I adore books & revere libraries, but know I could never work in this room. No matter that Germany is not an earthquake-prone country, the memory of experiencing the 7.2 in San Francisco makes this room seem claustrophobic — the threat of that ceiling of falling books. The body remembers. I see significant aftershocks rattling Turkey relentlessly, adding to the sum of trauma these poor people will carry throughout their lives. (Also, how do you think he accessed the ceiling books?)
@StudioBeau Dunno but he must have had accessibility worked into the design in some manner
@BrianJopek I should probably stop trying to figure it out. 😆 Despite my own quirky inhibitions, it’s a wonderful room.
