Do I know anyone here who is familiar with the Japanese Thumb Shift or NiCOLA keyboard? I would love to ask some simple questions. (Boost and reshares would be very welcome!)
(I started working on a little emulator to bring this concept to more people, but I would love to validate some behaviours.)
@mwichary Possibly @tosche_e ?
@onpaperwings @mwichary Sorry, I do not have a firsthand experience with this kind of keyboards.
@mwichary I don't know if this is helpful, but a coworkers love of them (and this old blog they wrote) came up this week. http://catern.com/2013/12/15/cheap-ergonomics.html
Using a Japanese thumb-shift keyboard for cheap ergonomics

@mwichary
I am Japanese and grew up there but I don't know much about this keyboard. I had a NEC 98 series computer but based on a quick research this was a standard with Fujitsu.
I know someone in Japan and knows a lot of people. I can connect.
@Mieko That would be amazing! Basically I did this https://shifthappens.site/thumb-shift-test/ and would love for someone to take a look and see if this feels correct, since I haven’t actually used the original thumb shift myself.

@mwichary
DMed you via Twitter. :)

This is something I didn't know. Very interesting. I switched to alphabet entry instead of kana because I regularly typed both Japanese and English early on.

@mwichary If there is one expert out there, it has to be @shiki_okasaka on the bird site. Or try the contact form on his website: www.esrille.com/en/about.html
@blabaere This is great, thanks!
@blabaere He’s been incredibly helpful. Thank you again.
