There's something really heartwarming about talking to someone about doing the things they're passionate about. That's how we ended up leaving an hour past closing time at this new Filipino restaurant in town, after we got into conversation with the owner and her aunt. And her aunt was SO proud to show off her niece's baking skills.

And their food was so fucking good. Look at that tapsilog...

Look at that flan! It was so rich, the caramel flavor was almost coffee-like.

@theome Oh, that looks good! But I can't place it. Where'd ya get that, coonie?
@brokken It's the Filipino dish tapsilog, which is normally a breakfast dish. It's from a small family owned Filipino place that opened up about a year ago about 2-3 neighborhoods away.
@theome I suspected SE Asian. It looks healthy and delicious. Enjoy! :D
@theome The rice looks really nice!
@hermux It was daaaamn good.
@theome cue jaunty tuba music…
@theome oooh that looks so good. Honestly Filipino food is something more people need to experience. I have several Filipino coworkers and been learning stuff from them. It’s all been so good. I’ve been making my own adobo recipe too over the past year and think I got it down now.
