"It turns out that an employee had inadvertently deleted data for an internal service that sets rate limits for using Twitter. The team that worked on that service left the company in November." https://www.platformer.news/p/elon-musk-fires-a-top-twitter-engineer
Elon Musk fires a top Twitter engineer over his declining view count

Inside Twitter 2.0, turmoil leaves employees stretched to the max

I'm guessing FTC and EU fines alone will probably bankrupt Twitter within a year

1) FTC fines Elon a billion dollars for flagrant violation of its consent decree

2) Elon refuses to pay

3) Twitter.gov

@ryanlcooper been saying it should be part of the post office for years
@ryanlcooper i think part of musk will be relieved if he can play victim and blame the site's bankruptcy on the dastardly lib regulators rather than having to admit his management techniques and meddling destroyed the site directly.
@mtsw yeah, I could see that too. it's bringing down his entire empire, I'm sure even he at least senses that to some degree
@ryanlcooper yup and the thing he fears more than losing money is the idea that he will be made to look stupid or incompetent. he really self-identifies as a heroic genius engineer and will be happy to lose tons of money and prestige if it means he can avoid the cognitive dissonance of that identity being challenged.
@ryanlcooper They won't bankrupt you if you just don't pay 'em!
