Louis DeJoy plans to slash 50,000 USPS jobs.

Why in the world does Trump's postmaster general still have his job?

And how is this not a massive national scandal?
@rbreich Biden doesn’t have the power to fire him. And the board is also corrupt.
@richservo @rbreich DOJ has the power to prosecute him.
@dalias @rbreich I don’t think he’s committed any crimes tho. He’s just trying to tank the constitutionally guaranteed service.

@richservo @rbreich You don't get to be part of that kind of circle without having committed LOTS of crimes.

On top of that, various forms of interfering with postal service are federal crimes.

@richservo @rbreich Like seriously. I want DeJoy charged exactly like someone who robbed a mail truck or broke into a sorting facility and smashed the machines (which he basically did).
@dalias @rbreich much like Trump I'm pretty sure he's working within the written laws. So no matter what he does it can't be convicted of anything. That's how white collar criminals operate.
@richservo @rbreich That's less about operational smarts and more about the inconsistent, racist, and classist ways laws are enforced. There's no letter-of-the-law exception to let them do the things they do. It's just that the broad laws applied to people without power don't get applied to their actions.
@dalias @rbreich Exactly my point. They follow the "law" no matter how terrible it may be written.
@richservo @rbreich No, those enforcing the law just follow them. The law as written is so broad as to criminalize all sorts of things ordinary people do, and to give vast leeway to prosecute all kinds of roundabout ways of causing harm. But it's not applied except to certain classes of people.
@dalias @rbreich and all politicians are exempt. Yeah. That’s how it is.
@richservo @rbreich "If you enforced the law against politicians, it would be politically motivated prosecution which is undemocratic!" 🤔
@dalias @rbreich also, you can’t prosecute a sitting president! I then after he’s booted. What’s the point of prosecuting, he’s not president anymore. Let’s move on. Imagine if all criminals were set free because it was the past and we should move on.
@richservo
it's unclear to me what point is trying to be made here, and not just because the writing is unclear.
