If picking a server makes Mastodon "too difficult" to use for some, it might be a blessing after all as it works as a filter against people who are just way too inept at technology.

It's good to have a minimum proficiency level for a user experience, or otherwise everything would be way too simplified and inefficient where it shouldn't be. Not everything has to grow to cover the entire planet.

@madelena sometimes inclusion is a wiser idea as a richer content is possible. People of all ages and backgrounds still learn.
@politeconverse I don't think it's so much about inclusion but everyone in a community should adhere to a certain set of rules in order to have the community function well. It's like how only trained pilots can fly airplanes. Public speeches also come with its own set of responsibilities, such as not spreading misinformation or hate. I don't think making it hard to use Is a good solution, but this place has a lot less noise than Twitter nonetheless.
@madelena @politeconverse why would you conflate having trouble with technology with spreading hate speech? Wtaf?!
@madelena @politeconverse and also excluding a lot of tech-uninclined people who could really use the tech learning content offered here
