@devondundee I mean it seems the headlines got this pretty wrong. They’re just not going to eliminate the standalone D+ app, which would’ve risked losing subs who either don’t want to pay more or can’t be bothered to migrate to a new app (a struggle HBO lived through not that long ago)
@iamchrisbarlow Right! That’s my issue with it, honestly. I think keeping Discovery+ around is the right move. If they had just made a simple HBO Max/Discovery+ bundle at a $3 discount and called it a day, they could have had this settled ages ago.
@devondundee True! I think a bundle would’ve been a short term win but from a biz side I think it’s very smart to lock HBO content behind a premium all-inclusive upsell.
@iamchrisbarlow HBO stuff costs a lot of money to make, so they’ve gotta make money off of it. I get that. Just hope the parent company doesn’t bumble around too much and mess up a good thing.
