Remember when Ajit Pai took over the FCC and gutted #netneutrality in a matter of months?

It's been nearly a year and a half and Biden still doesn't even have a fully staffed FCC.

Why? Because Democrats are sitting on their hands while Gigi Sohn faces a coordinated dark money smear campaign.

And the latest attacks are dangerous, and blatantly homophobic.

I wrote about it for FastCompany, please share widely https://www.fastcompany.com/90843990/senate-democrats-and-biden-need-to-stand-up-to-homophobic-attacks-on-fcc-nominee-gigi-sohn

@evangreer yes, I remember all too well how the Internet as we know it died in 2017. Or something like that.
@xrlq this is the stupidest take and it's been widely debunked as a talking point. but try again
@evangreer Wrong. The second stupidest take was everyone getting their hair on fire before that useless regulation was rescinded. THE stupidest is you still pushing that trope years later, after nothing happened, over the internet that supposedly doesn't exist anymore.
@xrlq @evangreer here, let me explain it so even a Libertarian can understand.
After he passed his his, there were court cases. No isp was going to spend the money to exploit things before the court cases were done.
Not long after the final verdict was the election. Noone was going to exploit that until they knew which way the election went. Trump lost. So now they know it's coming back and won't make any big changes because they can't recoup the costs before its back.
There, simple enough?
@ktetch @evangreer simply stupid.
@xrlq @evangreer it is indeed a very stupid situation (it should be codified in law, rather than being abolished as a new freebie to lobbyists).
But also what's very stupid was your blind repetition of a talking point that was *so* blatantly wrong it could be destroyed by being "libertarian simplistic".
Net neutrality has been "the way" since 1968, without it there is no internet.
But if you don't like it, here's the 4 principles of NN according to the FCC, which do want gone?
@ktetch @evangreer what is mildly stupid was you guys' hair on fire on 2017 over the internet Armageddon that would supposedly come when the 2015 regulation was repealed. It did not. The simple answer now is to admit you were wrong about that.
@xrlq @evangreer or maybe, just maybe, it didn't happen BECAUSE of the noise.
And you [conveniently] forgot to point which of those 4 principles of #NetNeutrality you don't agree with and want gone (or at least would be cool with losing)
@ktetch @evangreer Yes, there are no elephants so maybe your elephant-repelling tactics must be working! I haven't called for any principles to go away. I just mocked idiots who lost their shit when the 2015 regulation did.
