@dekkzz76 @chrisboulanger @RickiTarr I think that’s probably a temporary state of affairs, as the right are probably still hanging on in Twitter.

But I think even they will get to the point where they find it difficult to stay, and mastodon will start to pretty much reflect the politics of the general demographic.

But without algorithms to amplify extremism and create division it will still be a much pleasanter place to be.

@peterbrown @dekkzz76 @RickiTarr Peter, love your observation about the potential impact of algorithms. And I imagine you are right about the demographics shifting/coalescing over time. Perhaps they'll build their own instances focused on being a new refuge for the RW? If not, then it will be interesting to see how the fediverse adapts to moderatong aggressive hate/negativity.
@chrisboulanger @peterbrown @dekkzz76 I am interested to see what will become of social media in general
@RickiTarr @peterbrown @dekkzz76 As am I. I can see people shifting to smaller & more personal spaces. One of the nice things about Mastodon to me is the ability to select the "neighborhood" you live in. I think more & more people will make the choice to go back to earlier internet principles of finding your tribe. So many of the problems with social come back to our feeds being hijacked by algorithms and ignoring the people/posts we want to see.
