Heard this this morning, “a critic is someone who knows the way, but doesn’t know how to drive the car.”

#theatre #movies #tv #art

@CatherineRussell2 it reminds me of another similar saying. ‘I don’t know how to play the piano, but I know when someone else is playing it badly’
@CatherineRussell2 I get where they are coming from, but not sure I agree with them on all levels of criticism. What is your take on the quote?
@CatherineRussell2 Interesting. I like the not knowing how to drive part, but it also strikes me that there’s more than one route.
@CatherineRussell2
Many moons ago..
Very much like being told I was a drama teacher because I could not act.
@KirstenD I am actor - but I can't teach acting! Critics serve a purpose. We all read reviews for everything now. I don't buy anything online without asking what is the best...people can tell me if the knife is sharp without being able to make knives.
@CatherineRussell2
Yes they can, but you or I could tell if a knife is sharp. A maker of knives has the skill and craft to tell you why and how it is the best sharp knife.
@CatherineRussell2 what on earth 🌍 are they on about. Critics are critics. I do not agree with people judging people on there chosen career.
@CatherineRussell2 I totally agree. I hate the critics by the way...
