Well I got a decent run in today, despite feeling not 100%. Also I was able to listen to some nice talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist! (1/5)
First was the second day of the #NBER's Industrial Organization meeting with talks from @AvnerShlain and Ashley Langer on customer renewal incentive effects and the impact of policy uncertainty, respectively. These talks were fascinating, although I wish the second half of the event wasn't cut off of the video. Still highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz8b0wbWJVk (2/5) #economics

Next was an interesting event on #competition policy in the age of #algorithms from an Indonesian perspective at the #Crawford School of Public Policy with Cassey Lee, Chandra Setiawan, Lili Yan Ing, and Chaikal Nuryakin. There's a lot of ground covered here, from algorithms to detect cabals (calling Thibault Schrepel) to the regulatory concerns in Southeast Asia with the growing influence of #platforms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g6bllfIRZ4 (3/5) #Indonesia

Next was an insightful panel on #Māori #data #sovereignty at the University of #Auckland with Daniel Wilson, Maui Hudson, Lara Greaves, and Kiri West. Data sovereignty gets thrown out a lot as a term, but this panel does a great job honing in on what it actually means and the necessity of taking that seriously for #indigenous communities around the globe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2P9hHdS6g0 (4/5)

Last was a fabulous talk by Nipun Batra on how to understand and think about the implications of #AI at #IITGandhinagar. Through a series of insightful examples and robust discussion with students, Batra methodically unpacks when and where AI technologies can make sense, what the pitfalls are, and the responsibility that developers have for designing inclusive systems that make a positive impact on the world. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oxOiY_M0EE (5/5)
