It was much warmer yesterday than it had been for a while so we planned to do some β€œbackyard rope” (which takes on a whole new meaning when your backyard is 105 acres).

The wind picked up right before sunset though so this tie ended up being much more torturous than intended strictly because of the cold so we kept it short and sweet but still got some great shots and it was a fun challenge. I was very happy that we were just minutes away from home once I was untied so I could get warm by the fire afterwards.

@KinkyLotus @Secondfloor That tree is really cool looking. Also 105 acres? I wish I could afford 0.25 acres by me. Maybe I need to move. Lol
@littlemike I mean, it was some very neglected land so I’d say it’s a bit of a β€œfixer upper” but I’m also not too proud to say we got a lot of help from the in-laws in order to buy the place. I grew up poor so I never had the privilege of generational wealth until I married into it.
@KinkyLotus I say absolutely nothing wrong with fixer-upper. Or marrying into some money lol. I grew up poor too (relative to the area, mind you) so it's tough to do an apples to apples comparison but I am not a young man and may never be able to afford a house here.
@littlemike capitalism is the worst :(

@KinkyLotus It really is. To put in in perspective - a 3 bedroom house on 0.25 (generally even less) of land goes for around $500,000 here with $12,000/year taxes.

It's insane.

@littlemike damn those taxes are rough. We are in a rural area so taxes are lower here but we also are classified as agricultural for half our land and are working on getting the other half reclassified. Ag tax breaks are very good here but there’s some hoops you gotta jump through to get the breaks.

@KinkyLotus Basically one of the highest per capita in the country. Very rough. Haha.

That's pretty awesome that you can at least get a break on them. I'm no farmer, but I'd probably learn to take care of the land if I had that much. It just sounds peaceful to me. I'm a city slicker, though. Haha. Well not really, but there's no suburbs equivalent lol

@littlemike it is really peaceful and calm and grounding here. We have a creek that runs year round and I just go listen to the water moving over the rocks when I’m feeling out of sorts.
@KinkyLotus That sounds great to me. Maybe I should move lol
