Who has caused inflation in the UK? https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2023/02/03/who-has-caused-inflation-in-the-uk/. War profiteering by oil companies, traders in basic foods, and now by banks is what has caused inflation. It was not created by people asking for pay rises to make ends meet again. So why is the government on the side of the war profiteers?
The stock market is failing according to the CBI. So why don’t we just let it go?

I posted this on Twitter this morning: https://twitter.com/RichardJMurphy/status/1942861045426516103 My point is serious. The CBI is saying that the situation with regard to the UK stock exchange is getting desperate, because it is losing out to overseas markets and not attracting sufficient business. The question that needs to be asked is, why is that?...

Funding the Future

@RichardJMurphy
Well observed as always.

Of course one thing this brings in to sharp focus is the myth of “the market” working to settle on the “right” price for any commodity - particularly essentials.

For essentials, it seems particularly well optimised to ratchet prices up at any excuse. And leave them there until the next excuse can be found to raise them further.

@RichardJMurphy Because they are Tories. Always blame the little people.
@RichardJMurphy 🤔 I think a plausible answer might involve the phrase "gravy train" somewhere...
@RichardJMurphy This government of fools is coming to an end. They need jobs when it all collapses. Given the weapons grade incompetence of the lot of them, they are currently lining their own pockets, or the pockets of those likely to keep them in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

@RichardJMurphy the government, in modern western democracies, is always on the side of those who fund political parties; and those who fund political parties are always those who profit from the most obscene abuses of the status quo.

It's a vicious spiral.

@RichardJMurphy Um, is it because they're Tories?
@RichardJMurphy because so many of those in Government are the war profiteers.
