Growing up, I went from the C64 to PC. I was super into Commodore, and was aware of the Amiga, but never had one. Lately I’ve been reading some Amiga stuff and I’m fascinated.

They’re also complex with the expansions, mods, successors, etc. I’d like to put together a high end Amiga kit, but for price/complexity I’ll probably start with an emulation setup. Interested in creating reverse engineering/low level tinkering content.

Any Amiga enthusiasts follow me? Fond memories? Current rigs?

@mcgrew fond memories of my first home computer, the amiga 1000 and later 3000. The IFF interchange file format let you use competing products for a sound or graphics project, although this broke down a bit for 3D animation. If you get one running you may need a monitor that matches the specs of a commodore 1950; I think modern monitors run too fast.
@segfaul7 nice! Yes from my other retro tinkering, I’m pretty used to dealing with various signals. I have a RGB>HDMI converter (and various other gadgets) that ought to do the trick if I start working with a real one.
