I witnessed a territory battle in my back yard, between a red-shouldered hawk and a barred owl.
The hawk was screeching earlier, and the owl eventually appeared in the pine trees along the back.
The hawk flew over to the owl, flapped its wings at the owl and and perched on a nearby branch to continue screeching at it.
The hawk lunged at the owl. They tangled for a minute, wings outstretched. The owl flew backwards into the forest. Minutes later, the owl reclaimed the branch. #birds #hawk #owl
