from FB:

To commemorate 60 years since saving Cwm Gwendraeth Fach from being drowned, we are arranging an open day on Wednesday the 1st March (St David’s Day) at the village hall from 1.00-7.00pm. We ask that anybody who has resources that are associated with the fight to save the valley, bring this material to the hall to create / ensure a permanent digital record for future generations.

Carmarthenshire village celebrates 50th anniversary of halting reservoir

Llangyndeyrn will hold a week-long celebration to mark 50 years since villagers young and old stopped diggers flooding the Gwendraeth Fach Valley

Short piece on 'Heno' on S4C about this last night...

I'll be be the one there sounding English :-)

I was the only one speaking English ;-) Took a few phone pics, will try to post a few more later, but these are the closest I could find to coverage maps. The dam would have been just upstream of #Llangyndeyrn, the waters extending up to #Porthyrhyd
@mzdt I love the little and big rivers on the first map. (That is about the limit of my Welsh)

@mzdt I didn't know this - we drive through Llangyndeyrn frequently and the thought of flooding that beautiful valley is a disgrace.

This is "civil disobedience" at its best, and it is an example to us all to stand up for what is right.

@Henrysbridge it was built up the Towy valley as Llyn Brianne in the end. I'm hoping to make it and find coverage maps, we live at the edge of the valley, and whilst wouldn't have been flooded, might have been close...
@mzdt Hope to come along on Dydd Dewi Sant. I'd love to learn more about the area. (We're in Cwm Gwendraeth Fawr)
