If you "Log in with Twitter" to any websites, get ready for that to stop working. Maybe the sites will send money to Musk, but maybe they won't. You need a Plan B, right now.
@dangillmor Does that rely on the API? Or is it just oauth?
@petersterne Good question. But I wouldn't make any assumption about Twitter connections working for any purpose at this point.
@petersterne Seems to me the login function has to -- as some level -- use the API. Again I'm not positive, but I wouldn't even consider relying on it at this point.

@dangillmor @petersterne I stopped updating the bird app on my iPhone last spring & sometime in Nov-Dec it would not work w/o updating. I switched to web access, which used to be fine but is now a good way to see the tech falling apart.

In the last week it keeps logging me out & forcing me to reenter my password. They are changing things.

My usage of the site has dropped off a cliff.

@Cmmcd @dangillmor @petersterne I can imagine for someone with 500k followers, it might be hard to give it up. I only had 150, and deleted my ten year old account without hesitation when Musk bought it. I do miss all the shitty reporters though, and none of my elected officials are on Mastodon, but...oh well.
