That was exactly how Captain America was born: a bunch of jews creating a nationalist symbol which had as main purpose smashing nazis, starting with Hitler in his very first issue cover.
It's a flawless argument: nazis are always bad for your country, so if you are a patriot, you have to fight nazis.
#Nationalism is too often dubbed #Patriotism.
Nationalists are flag-wavers, blindly devoted to their government. Patriots are proud of the ideals of their country and will challenge their government when there is a perceived deviation from its spirit.

Dissent is patriotic, but the insurrectionists' dissent was neither patriotic nor even nationalistic (it was devotion to a leader, not to a nation).
American nationalism focuses on hate and exclusion, completely ignorant to how it contradicts our nation's founding principles (well, except slavery and a dozen other things).
Presumably it all depends on how you view your nation.
Patriotism is a very dubious proposition at best.
