Whenever I post something publicly on Facebook mentioning hacking I get a ton of spammy comments. I've reported 42 of the comments as spam, and deleted dozens more. FB doesn't seem to be getting any better at blocking them.

It does seem to recognize these as spammy, though, and so doesn't notify me. Which is not what I want: it means my friends still see them on my posts, and I'm reliant on them to let me know about the comments so I can delete. https://www.jefftk.com/p/hacked-account-spam

@jefftk Thank you for posting about this! I went through a similar thing with IG and it was maddening- I found this post while obsessively researching it. (OBTW given your location and interests I expect we have some friends in common- I also liked your post on gender in contras.) Do you have any research on how common hacked FB and IG accounts are? from people I actually know who this has happened to and the apparent industry around spamming the victims, it seems widespread.
