How did this man become chancellor?
On 30th January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor by President Hindenburg against his better judgement, despite the fact that Hitler's Nazi Party only got about 31% of the vote. How he managed that is a complicated mix of the workings of a parliamentary democracy, the desire for some kind of stablity, and an attempt to split the Nazi party that backfired.
