Trying this again. I’m an immigrant and this is very near & dear to my heart. My goal is to have 1000 of my 44,000+ awesome supporters sign this petition to demand undocumented immigrants can get the basic need of a Drivers License. (So far 100 did from my earlier post. Thank you!)

@QasimRashid So FWIW, your question over-simplifies a complex issue, so I don't engage on your terms (the poll). Rather, I'd re-frame the question - if you can have a gun with no ID, why not be able to drive, no matter what ID you have ? And how about, let's just "document" the un-documented, which is effectively what a driver's license is - documentation that establishes some level of trust. If we let in Bolsonero, why not let in people who actually work and have jobs and are contributing to our country ?

@jab01701mid @QasimRashid I appreciate the sentiment but it’s not a good idea to allow anyone to operate deadly machinery around others without some sort of competency training… be that machinery a gun or a motor vehicle. Just because gun nuts have a death wish doesn’t mean we should let the public way become any more of a free for all than it already is. Yes to immigrant rights, no to untrammeled automotive supremacy. 🫣

@QasimRashid it's probably best to mention which country the licence is applicable to.

There are other countries available, you know.

@QasimRashid Massachusetts legislature just passed this last summer, passed it again harder to override Gov. Baker's veto, and then we had to have a statewide ballot question to keep the new law (super bonus round passing it).

It took well over a decade of hard work to get us here, but it can be done.

What gives me pause is that this sort of thing further solidifies a second or third class of citizen, with codified rights and lack thereof. This essentially documents their undocumented status, which in the long term could be used as a trap.
