OK - this is procrastination and should not happen. But I was curious - are things better than many think? Let's look at Lord Hannan's statistics (thread)

‘Ignore the anti-Brexit fanatics — Britain is doing just fine’ says Lord Hannan
By Lord Daniel Hannan. Here are a couple of things you won’t be reading in the media. U.K. inflation, already well below the European Union’s level, fell again last month. Payroll jobs are up 1.8 m…
Conservative PostInflation - indeed, UK inflation is well below the EU27 and the euro, it is slightly below Germany and significantly higher than France. (Source OECD)
FDI - according to the data of the OECD while the UK historically has had the highest FDI inflows compared to EU competitors...
In 2021 it was below Germany and France. So that claim is (according to the OECD data) incorrect.
Is GDP growth higher than in the EU - he claims that is true both from 2016 and 2020. Let's do the 2016 calculus. Here's the World Bank GDP growth stat. If you take 2015 as 100 the UK ends up at 103.46, the EU at 108.32. So that claim does not hold up. But
Maybe it's because it isn't PPP? As the World bank doesn't do growth of PPP I had to compare myself, the UK grew from 2.93 trillion to 3.34, the EU from 18.07 to 21.68 - that's 13.99% growth for the UK, 25.51% for the EU. So doubts here, too.
