The never-ending “Background Items Added" pop-up for an item I already disabled or already know about is the most annoying part of Ventura after the new System Settings design.

@film_girl only issue with Vista’s UAC, IIRC, was that some of the times it prompted were silly. Things like screen resolution. They toned it down in 7 and it was fine. Unpopular, but the correct road to take.

With macOS, one of the things they need to vastly improve is *provided info*.

@chucker yes! The lack of context or even worse, no context and nothing is actionable, is frustrating. That and seeing the same pop-up over and over again.

@film_girl they also haven’t really nailed the balance between “the user *should* jump through some hoops to reduce social engineering and security vectors” and “this is ridiculously user-hostile”

(Perhaps most infamously with the Rogue Amoeba multiple restarts required thing.)

@chucker that one still angers me. Also, forcing me to give up Apple Pay or whatever on Safari b/c I had to turn off SIP or turn the setting down to install software I need for my professional life, is not a way to convince me to use Apple Pay over any other way of entering in my credit card.
